Introducing the tensorXF Template
The tensorXF template is a specific folder within this project, created by author Caesar Wiratama, that focuses entirely on external aerodynamics. It is designed to simulate steady, normal-temperature air or fluid flowing around a solid object. This makes it perfect for testing the wind resistance or airflow around aircraft, drones, cars, buildings, and sporting goods. If you use this specific template for your work, all that is asked is that you mention and give credit to tensorXF in your reports or projects.
How to Run Your First Simulation
Running the simulation only takes four simple commands in your computer’s terminal window. First, you run a command to unlock the automation scripts so your computer is allowed to open them. Second, you start the meshing script, which builds a virtual wind tunnel mesh around your object. Third, you launch the actual solver script to start calculation. Finally, there is a cleanup script you can run whenever you want to wipe away old simulation data and start fresh.
Changing the 3D Shape
To test your own design, you just delete the default 3D file in the template and drop in your own 3D file, which can be an .obj or .stl file format. For the best results, you should place your design right at the center of the virtual space and make sure it is facing the direction of the airflow. If your object is much bigger or smaller than the default model, you can easily open the setup files to stretch the virtual wind tunnel box and adjust the surrounding mesh grid so it wraps tightly around your new shape.
Adjusting the Airflow and Wind Speed
You can customize exactly how the air behaves by editing the basic text files inside the template’s startup folder. For instance, if you want to test a vehicle at a higher speed, you just change the default velocity number to your desired speed. You can also tell the software how to treat the floor of the simulation—leaving it perfectly smooth like open air, or turning on friction to simulate a real road surface.
A Quick Warning
Please keep in mind that this template is a development version. This means some of the background settings might not be perfectly optimized for every single scenario yet. The accuracy of the final answers depends entirely on your specific setup and shape, so pt-tensor.com does not take responsibility for the final simulation data. Always double-check your engineering results.
